On June 29, 2020, the provincial council of Noord-Holland adopted a motion stating that institutional racism can be combated, among other things, by making the colonial past visible and open to discussion. Hidden Noord-Holland does this with a focus on slavery in the Atlantic area and the role of this province in it.
